Great news from the studio. Lu Hickman Creative Co. is named a winner in three national design competitions. Together they bring our total to 11 national industry awards.

Two Lantern Awards from HBMA

The Houston Business Marketing Alliance (HBMA) selects two of our projects as Lantern Award winners. HBMA presents the Lantern Awards of Texas, which recognize exceptional B2B marketing, and the 2024 awards dinner was the 36th annual. Being recognized by fellow marketing professionals in our home market means a great deal to our team.

About HBMA

The Houston Business Marketing Alliance is a nonprofit that serves the greater Houston marketing community. Its roots go back to 1922 and began with a strict focus on B2B marketing. Today HBMA welcomes marketers from every discipline. Its mission is to deliver thought leadership, an awards program, career development, and peer networking, and it hosts events and discussions that help local marketers grow.

A GDUSA Health + Wellness Award

GDUSA Magazine honors a third project with a Health + Wellness Design Award. This program recognizes design that serves health and wellness, from hospitals and public health to mental health and fitness. Entries are judged on creativity, craft, and effectiveness, and winners are published nationally and archived in the American Design Gallery.

About GDUSA

Graphic Design USA, known as GDUSA, has served graphic designers and the wider creative community since 1963. The publication is based on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, a few blocks from where its first issue was produced. Today GDUSA covers news, people, trends, technology, and products through a print magazine, a digital edition, a monthly e-newsletter, and a website with about 110,000 visitors a month.

GDUSA also runs national design competitions for graphic design, package design, web design, in-house design, and health and wellness design. It publishes annual features such as Graphic Designers to Watch, Students to Watch, and Socially Responsible Designers. We are proud to be part of that tradition, and our earlier GDUSA American Graphic Design Awards are documented on this blog.

All three awards recognize design work our team created throughout 2025. We will publish and present each winning project in November, with the story behind the design, the goals we set with the client, and the results.
